Artists have an uncanny way of solving problems, with certain traits they embody. These artistic traits that they bring the arts success are learnable. Skills can be learned. The studio habits of mind philosophy was developed by Harvard university over the course of several years. My shift in the art room has been to push and reward process.

Importance of Failure
JK Rowling speaks if the significance of failure. If you don’t take any risks in life you fail by default.
Back Fire Theory
Back Fire theory shows that some when presented evidence that runs opposite to students beliefs makes them further entrenched in their beliefs. Look at the political climate right now as another example. Data will not convince them! So teaching Growth Mindset can be tricky. They need to know that the data isn’t threatening their world values. So if they say they can’t do art and don’t like art perhaps focus on skills are learnable and will increase your current skill with effort. I find those who say they can’t do art will work less in what seems to prove themselves right. If someone says they can they will if they cant they will prove they can't.
